We have had the distinct pleasure of having been able to talk to Aaron Nel on a few occasions through Facebook etc., and we thought it fitting to provide everyone with a write-up about him.
Aaron's singing career started at age 4 when he was constantly asked to sing at pre-school productions, social braais, etc, growing up in the sprawling metropolis of Marble Hall on the world famous Springbok Vlakte, about 50kms from Potgietersrus, South Africa.
Aaron started playing guitar at the age of 10. When faced with the gruelling decision of what to study and, therefore, do the rest of his life...he chose to study music at Natal Technicon, where he completed two years of the "Light Music" course.
In 2000, Aaron moved up to Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province and worked as Producer, and sound engineer at Aviv Studio Productions for three and a half years. During this time a 10 song album was recorded on which the title track "The Call" is still being play-listed on radio stations around South Africa. Another single, "Jesus Savior" has since been released and is also still play-listed.
Aaron Nel's latest song, titled "Saam maak ons drome waar", which translated to English means "Together we can make our dreams a reality", was recorded and mixed by Rudi Massyn from Stone Studios International.
The song was written, and just felt so good to play and perform that the arranging, recording and production process as a whole progressed like something with a life of its own, which results in an easy listening and consumable pop - rock song - ideal for radio. The lyrics are both personal to Aaron, as well as having a universal appeal.
Aaron moved from Durban to Hartbeespoort - 40 km's from Pretoria and 60 km's from Fourways, Johannesburg in Dec 2012, and has since had various Afrikaans and English songs on radio stations, which include Radio Pretoria, Bok Radio and RSG to name a few, and is very much interested in talking to interested parties about live performance opportunities – pubs, restaurants, corporate functions, music halls, theatre, weddings and birthdays.
He maintains a busy performance schedule to date in venues near and far singing both covers and originals, English and Afrikaans.
